Chief Operating Officer
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and implementation of USG’s strategy across all departments of the organization. This hands-on leader will take an active role in supporting all aspects of the organization while also fostering the professional and spiritual development of staff. The COO is responsible for ensuring operational excellence and Biblical stewardship throughout the organization. As second in command, the COO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and represents the CEO at key internal and external meetings as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Organizational Development:
- Collaborate with CEO in driving organizational vision, strategy, and design.
- Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth.
- Utilize the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) for implementing & leading organization-wide goal setting, alignment, performance management, and annual planning.
- Oversee, align, and support all operational and ministry divisions and departments, including but not limited to Business & Finance, Ministry, HR, Marketing & Communications, and Operations, in their pursuit of scalable growth and/or efficiency targets.
- Ensure ongoing organizational compliance with national and local business & nonprofit regulations.
- Proactively analyze internal operations and identify areas for improving collaboration and/or process enhancement.
- Lead financial modeling and performance analysis of all consignment operations to optimize return on investment and guide strategic decision-making.
- Oversee tax compliance across ecommerce operations, ensuring proper registration, collection, and remittance of sales tax in all applicable jurisdictions.
- Partner with the Executive Director to develop and manage the organization’s annual and monthly budgets, long-term financial forecasts, and resource allocation strategies to ensure proper stewardship of all resources.
- Maintain best and highest use/stewardship of organizational CRM
- Actively develop and steward relationships with key external stakeholders such as members of USG’s Community, Donors, Vendors, Customers, and other partners.
Culture & Staff Development:
- Support the Chief Executive Officer in modeling and nurturing a Christ-centered culture across the organization, along with spiritual development of all Leadership Team members.
- Establish and maintain regular organizational rhythms (scorecards, L10 meetings, quarterly planning, annual reviews, etc.) that drive accountability and cross-functional alignment.
- Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a team and culture that is aligned, ensures team members can thrive, and that organizational goals are met.
- Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention.
- Support the Chief Executive Officer and Leadership Team in coordinating & delegating tasks by stewarding organizational resources and team members.
- Model relational leadership and emotional intelligence by building trust across teams, navigating healthy tension with humility, and addressing conflict constructively—fostering a Christ-centered culture of unity, accountability, and continuous growth.
Required Qualifications:
- Spiritual:
- Seminary or other theological and/or Discipleship Training aligned with USG’s Statement of Faith.
- Practices personal spiritual disciplines, actively involved in their local church, and exhibits a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- Leadership & Management:
- 5+ years of experience managing and leading a team.
- Proven ability to lead financial operations in a complex or multi-revenue-stream organization.
- Operational & Technical Competence:
- Proficiency in computer technology and web-based applications
- Strong skills in budgeting, modeling, and reporting.
- Personal Attributes:
- Self-starter with high attention to detail and a bias for action.
- Loyal to the vision and mission of the ministry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional experience in a church or parachurch ministry environment.
- Experience working in the collegiate or professional sport industry
- Knowledge of e-commerce and/or digital marketing.
- Experience raising missionary support or other fundraising experience.
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems.
- Familiarity with EOS and its implementation in organizational operations.
